Wheelchair, Adaptive Equipment, and Bracing Support

  • Virtual Equipment Consults

Finding a physical therapist who knows how to navigate the entire process of equipment ordering is very difficult. And not everyone can make it to Medfield for equipment help.

Raheb Physical therapy provides adaptive equipment and wheelchair consultations with patients, families, and physical therapists via telehealth.

During these consultations with you and your physical therapist, you will be provided with:

    - Advice on how you can find adaptive equipment trials near you

    - Suggestions on how to find an equipment vendor near you

    - Guidance on proper selection of adaptive equipment

    - A plan for the equipment ordering process

    - Virtual follow up care as needed

  • Wheelchair and Adaptive Equipment Clinic

We offer a wheelchair and adaptive equipment clinic to help you through the process of trialing and ordering equipment.

This equipment clinic supports families through the process and has a heavy focus on patient and family education and trialing equipment. This allows you to be part of the conversation and feel confident in the decisions you make for you and/or your family member. You will work with the same physical therapist from beginning to end, all the way through delivery.

Caregiver and patient training is part of the process so you will understand how to properly use and maintain the equipment you are getting. After receipt of equipment, follow-up support is provided as needed. For more information on the process of ordering equipment, please contact us!

This equipment clinic is open to both pediatrics and adults.

  • Home Modification Consultations

If you are considering home modifications to improve accessibility for a family member and need help problem solving what to do, we can help.

    We can help problem-solve through:

    - Different ways to utilize the space you have

    - Questions to ask your general contractor and architect

    - Whether or not to utilize adaptive equipment in addition to the changes you are making to your home

    - Figure out ways to maximize insurance coverage

    - Connecting with families who have already gone through the process

    - What grant programs and resources could potentially assist you

Working with a physical therapist is very helpful in the early stages of home modifications because a physical therapist can help you figure out what is needed now and how this might change as your family member gets older and their functional mobility needs change.

  • Brace Consultations

Consultations are done to provide bracing recommendations. If bracing is recommended, you will be assisted with finding an orthotist. Your physical therapist will also communicate with the orthotist to provide collaborative care.
