Physical Therapy Services in Medfield MA, Outpatient, In-home, and Telehealth for Kids & Young Adults

Pediatric Physical Therapy Services

Raheb Physical Therapy provides pediatric physical therapy services to kids of all abilities. Physical therapy is not only for adults. Kids very commonly need physical therapy services. What this looks like varies based on a child's age and abilities.

For an infant, physical therapy could help to improve a child's range of motion so they have an easier time moving their heads to see and explore the world. It could involve teaching an infant how to roll or crawl if they are having trouble. Physical therapy for young children could be teaching them how to walk with proper mechanics, or teaching them how to use a wheelchair to get around their home and community. Regardless of the age, pediatric physical therapy also includes support for the caregiver. Pediatric physical therapists teach parents what they can do to support their child's mobility and gross motor development and how to incorporate these activities into an already busy daily routine.

At Raheb PT, we work together at a frequency that works for you, your child, and your entire family. You can receive services on an intensive frequency (4-5 times per week), low frequency (1-2 x/week), or consultative (as needed). Frequencies change over time depending on your child’s and family’s needs.

  • Dry needling is a technique performed by physical therapists for the treatment of pain, over activated and under activated muscles, tightness, and movement impairments. It is also referred to as functional dry needling, muscular needling, trigger point dry needling, and intramuscular manual therapy.

A very thin needle is used to penetrate the skin and muscle.

Dry needling can also be combined with electric stimulation for an improved response and minimize soreness the following day.

  • FES is a way to activate weak muscles during movement to help with a variety of activities such as walking.

At Raheb Physical Therapy, you are provided with assistance in figuring out if this is an appropriate intervention for you.  If you are, you will be supported through the entire process — trialing, ordering, and initiating use.

  • Schroth, also referred to as Rigo Concept and patient specific scoliosis exercises, is a type of physical therapy that is specifically meant for scoliosis. Schroth physical therapy gives patients strategies on how to hold their spine in a more midline position to help reduce the risk of curve progression. The goal is to teach a home exercise program that the patient can do independently. Schroth physical therapy can improve posture and reduce or eliminate back pain.

Schroth is not something to be done in replace of bracing or seeing an orthopedic doctor. Many times, the mix of multiple interventions is what people need in order to prevent a curve from progressing.

  • We offer a wheelchair and adaptive equipment clinic to help you through the process of trialing and ordering equipment. This equipment clinic supports families throughout the entire process of ordering equipment. After receipt of equipment, follow-up support is provided as needed.
